I've had this old filing cabinet sitting in storage for about 10 years and I finally found something fun to do with it!
In opening the new spa we obviously needed a filing cabinet for all our business related paperwork, but traditional filing cabinets are always so clunky and drab looking. This quick project turned this old beat up cabinet into a cute, girly, fun addition to our office.
Refinishing this old cabinet only cost me about $30 and now isn't an eye soar in my cute trendy little office!
How I did it:
1. Sand the cabinet with 220 or finer sand paper to remove the old finish. If you don't do this step, your new coat of paint may crap, bleed funny or not stick well.
2. Cover the handles and buttons with tape and remove any parts you do not want painted prior.
3. Spray on 1-2 coats of primer depending on the darkness of the previous paint. Let dry minimum 1 hour.
3. Then Spray paint the cabinet whatever colors you desire! I chose white and pink. The white to several coats to look nice. If you chose a darker color, it will take less paint.
For a 4 drawer cabinet like this, plan to buy at least 2 can of primer and 2 cans of color for the outside if you plan to use one color for the whole thing.
